The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Greetings!  Summer schedules are over, but for now the heat and humidity are going strong.  I was really surprised at how early some of the schools went back, my niece even began in July this year!  It seems we have enough to keep us busy, make certain you take time for the Lord every day.

September is the month of the Seven Sorrows of Mary.  This wasn’t a devotion I was familiar with when I was younger, but as a mother and one who deeply loves Our Lady, I find this a beautiful devotion.  Our Sorrowful Mother’s Ministry is a good place to read and learn more.  Here are the 7 sorrows from Scripture:

  1. The prophecy of Simeon (Luke 2:25-35)
  2. The flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:13-15)
  3. Loss of the Child Jesus for three days (Luke 2:41-50)
  4. Mary meets Jesus on his way to Calvary (Luke 23:27-31; John 19:17)
  5. Crucifixion and Death of Jesus (John 19:25-30)
  6. The body of Jesus being taken from the Cross (Psalm 130; Luke 23:50-54; John 19:31-37)
  7. The burial of Jesus (Isaiah 53:8; Luke 23:50-56; John 19:38-42; Mark 15:40-47)

Next month is our Fall Radiothon, it will be October 7 – 11.  I need lots of help on the phones and would love to have students or anyone who could be a “runner” from 7am – 6 pm.  You don’t need to work all those hours, just let me know when you can help.  Would you be interested in being on air?  Could you bring breakfast, lunch, or snacks for the staff and volunteers?

We are currently in the 54-day Novena for the Church and Our Country.  If you haven’t been participating, join today.  Just pray a rosary every day for this intention and it is even better if you make some offering.  The Novena ends on the first day of the radiothon.

Covenant Network’s mission is through the grace that we receive from the Blessed Sacrament to evangelize the Catholic Faith.  We want to share the Faith with everyone so that more people will come to know Jesus Christ and so we all come to know, love, and serve Him in order to live with Him in Heaven for eternity.  Help us continue this work, please support Covenant Network during the Fall Radiothon.  If you have ideas to help, please call.

Sincerely in Christ,

Teresa M. Holman
